Iceland: Day 1 - Reykjavik

Gosh it's been forever since I've updated. I haven't traveled in a while, I suppose :)

This next adventure I welcome someone who has traveled even more than me! Thus Anne & Allie's Adventure begins -- and hopefully it won't be the last!

Mom and I decided we wanted to go to Iceland several years ago. I was inspired once seeing (effectively placed) advertisements on IcelandAir on my layover to Scotland in 2012. I told my mom about my desire to visit and she recalled fond memories of an Aupair that she had befriended who lived across the street from her in Houston. From there, we would talk about going to Iceland every few months. At the beginning of 2019 mom said she was going to Scotland with a childhood friend and asked if I would like to meet her on the second half of her journey. From there we hatched our trip to Iceland -- finally!

Mom got ahead of me in Reykjavik by one day, which turned out great because she met up with her old friend: Linda! She said it was like old times and really enjoyed seeing some sights from a local's perspective as well as getting some recommendations of things to see. One of our first stops from me de-planing was a Iceland Museum called Perlan. It was a beautiful demonstration about the historical, geological and cultural history of Iceland.

Next, we went to the Open Air Museum that Linda had recommended. She went there as a child and took her children as well. It was a demonstration of how old Iceland lived. Here is mom with sod roof.

I needed a nap, so mom explored the city and I met up with her in the town center (walking distance from our Airbnb). A lovely Icelandic girl took me, mom and one other couple on a six-part food tour of Iceland! We ate puffin, whale, lobster bisque, Icelandic hotdogs, lamb soup, fish & chips, and skyr.

Day 1 definitely was the perfect foundation for the trip to begin on, with a little history and a lot of food tasting!

France: Day 8 - Paris

Our final day was in Paris, and it was truly a dream. We had brunch at Immersion, splitting one savory and one sweet French toast.  We then ...
