Viva la Mexico! Cancun, Chichen Itza + Tulum

First-time all-inclusive survivor, right here ✋ Mom and I had been scheming a trip for her 60th birthday for quite some time, and it finally made it out of the group chat! Max and I arrived in sunny Cancun, Mexico, and waded into the Premier Pool, greeted by Tina, Brett, Madeline and Mitchell. We sat in the sun, sipped our cocktails, and were served poolside snacks aplenty. We did tequila tastings, ate fantastic dinners, and devoured delicious desserts.

On our transfer day to Tulum, Mom had graciously set up a private transfer to Secrets Tulum that included a pit stop to Chichen Itza and a cenote. Max and I of course jumped at the opportunity to see our third World Wonder together and Madeline and Mitchell were game too!

Mexican Continental Breakfast included street tacos and a Coca-Cola. It was absolutely fantastic and was the perfect way to start our journey to Chichen Itza. It was blazing hot upon arrival, so with hats and sunscreen, we met our tour guide and followed him to be guided around North America's sole World Wonder. It was stunning to see and learn the history, to clap and hear the quetzal chirp, hear forklore, and to discover historians are still uncovering (literally and figuratively) the wonders of Chichen Itza.

It was truly magnificent!

We donned our swimsuits to swim in the nearby Cenote Ik Kil. The water was fabulously blue and had black catfish swimming between our legs. It was kind of busy but we enjoyed cooling off after being blasted by the sun in Chichen Itza.

On our way to Tulum, we stopped for lunch at a quaint spot for tacos. We filled fresh tortillas with all kinds of cooked pork, fresh veggies, salsa, and beans.

We were greeted in Tulum by a few more friendly faces at the pool: Bob, Marcia, Kerry, and Marcus! Those of us who had the longer travel day were pretty wiped out turned in early.

The next few days, we had lazy pool days, an afternoon bike ride through Tulum, a private beach day with the entire group, plenty of delicious meals shared together, and a sentimental birthday dinner for Tina where we all had the opportunity to share how special and loved she is to us. It was a wonderful occasion to get together and celebrate this milestone for Mom. Truly one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever taken, and I loved all the quality time with good, good people.

xx
